4tamper states
The supplied holder lets the tracker sense whether it is seated, whether the central magnet is in place, and whether it is on or off a metal surface. A tamper event can be recorded with a position and can start recovery mode for rapid reporting.
Set the holder and central magnet up as the quick manual describes, or the tamper states will not read correctly.

Four neodymium magnets hold it to a trailer chassis, a container or a machine, and it moves to the next asset as easily as it went on.
Aluminium, plastic and other non-magnetic surfaces need another fixing method.

A 2200 mAh lithium thionyl chloride pack runs it with nothing connected to the asset, and the factory setting records one position every 8 hours, moving or parked. It is a check-in tracker, not a live one.
Not rechargeable, and Teltonika publishes no battery-life figure. Replace the pack when its voltage reaches Teltonika's thresholds.

The IP68 tracker sits in a flame-retardant PC+ABS holder, for containers, plant and trailers that spend their lives outside.
The holder is rated -40 to +80 °C. Teltonika's figures for the tracker itself differ between sources, so plan on -20 to +60 °C.

The tracker ships with Teltonika factory firmware and default settings, not configured for Fleetalyse. You fit your own IoT or M2M SIM, set the server and APN with Teltonika's configuration tool, and point it at whichever telematics platform you use. Yes. The TAT240 is 4G LTE Cat 1 with 2G GSM fallback. Teltonika's own description mentions 3G, but its band list has only LTE and GSM, and UK 3G has been switched off anyway. The 2G fallback ends with the UK 2G switch-off scheduled from 2029 (EE, O2) into 2030 (Vodafone); LTE Cat 1 carries on.
No wiring and no fitter needed. Fit a Micro-SIM, switch the tracker on and set the APN and server with Teltonika Configurator on a Windows PC over Micro-USB (cable not included), then clip it into the supplied magnetic holder and place it on a steel surface. Check the central magnet's polarity and that the tracker detects the holder, as the quick manual describes, so the tamper states read correctly.
The tracker senses its magnetic holder. It can tell when it has been taken out of the holder, when the central magnet is attached, and when the holder is attached to or removed from a metal surface. Each change can be recorded on its own or with a position fix, and a tamper state can switch the tracker into recovery mode for rapid reporting. It reads correctly only when the holder and central magnet are set up as the quick manual describes.
Teltonika does not publish a battery-life figure, so we do not quote one. It depends on how often you set it to report: the factory setting is one record every 8 hours, and shorter intervals use the non-rechargeable Li-SOCl2 pack faster. Teltonika gives voltage thresholds for planning a replacement: 6.6 V at +22 °C, 6.5 V at +3 °C and 6.3 V at -22 °C.
They share the same 4G LTE Cat 1 radio, 2200 mAh Li-SOCl2 battery, IP68 rating and Bluetooth LE. The TAT240 comes with a magnetic holder that adds tamper detection; the TAT140 is supplied as the tracker alone, for strapping, screwing or hiding inside a vehicle.
