Q: Plug-in or wired tracker for vans?

A plug-in OBD tracker goes in within seconds and can be moved from van to van. A wired one takes a bit longer to install, but it's hidden and harder to remove. If theft worries you, that matters.

Q: Do I have to tell my drivers?

Yes. UK data protection law expects you to tell drivers that the vehicle is tracked, why, and how the data is used. Our vehicle tracking policy guide sets out what to include.

Q: How much does van tracking cost?

Fleetalyse-ready trackers are a one-off hardware purchase with the SIM already fitted. Tracking plans then start from £5.99 a month per van, and there's no setup fee.

Dispatch the nearest van, not the usual one

The live map shows every van and what it's doing. The office can send whoever is closest, give the customer an honest arrival time and drop the "just checking where you are" phone calls.

Prove the work was done

Route history records when a van got to each address and when it left. If a customer disputes a call-out time or says a delivery never came, you have the record, not someone's memory. It's handy when you price repeat work, too.

Keep costs and driving in check

Speeding, harsh braking and idling all show up in the driver behaviour reports. That's where most avoidable fuel and wear costs come from. Service and MOT reminders stop a date slipping past while the van is out earning.

Which tracker to choose

FTC927: Small wired 4G unit with dead reckoning. Its Bluetooth reads EYE sensors in the load space.
FMC130: Hardwired 4G with 3 inputs, 3 outputs and 1-Wire. Pick it when a van needs driver ID, sensors or an immobiliser relay.
FMC150: Hidden in the cab and reads the CAN bus, for vans where real fuel and odometer figures matter. Needs a professional fit.
FTC880: Battery-mounted 4G tracker, IP69K, fitted with two wires. No Bluetooth.
FMC800: 4G plug-in that fits in seconds. It only takes power from the OBD port, so you don't get fuel or odometer data.
FMM003: OBD plug-in that reads the real odometer and fuel on supported vans. Your SIM must support LTE-M or NB-IoT.
FMC125: For vans that need RFID driver ID, Garmin navigation, a fuel probe or a second SIM. Readers and probes are sold separately.
FMM130: Same inputs and outputs as the FMC130, but on LTE-M or NB-IoT. Only pick it if your SIM supports one of those in the UK.
FMB130: 2G only, so it makes sense for vans leaving the fleet before the UK 2G switch-off (2029-2030), or as a spare for an existing FMB fleet. Otherwise get the FMC130.
FTC134: For vans that need door sensors, temperature probes or an immobiliser relay wired in. Not yet on our supported-device list; ask us before connecting it to Fleetalyse.
